The Causeway Friendship Club has RELOCATED to Signature Cafe Coleraine at Kitchen Craft.
The FRIENDSHIP CLUB CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION will take place on Wednesday 19th December 2012 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Signature Cafe, Circular Road opposite Anderson's Park. Telling a few stories, meeting new people and getting into the festive spirit is what the Christmas Friendship Club is all about! Mince Pies and Christmas Punch provided!
The Causeway Friendship Club provides a welcoming and open space for people to get together and have a chat on a monthly basis. The Friendship Club meets every third Wednesday of the month. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you are new to the area or want to meet new people. The first Friendship Club started in Belfast many years ago with the aim of reducing loneliness and isolation felt by many who are new to the area. It is important to welcome people, especially those who do not have the luxury of having family and friends in their close proximity.
The aim of the project is to work alongside migrant workers and new citizens to encourage active citizenship within Northern Irish society.
The project also provides opportunities for social events involving local residents and new citizens in order to develop understanding of each other’s culture and to build positive relationships.
The project has provided anti-racism and prejudice awareness training to youth and community groups, as well as workshops at conferences. Research has also been carried out into the needs of ethnic minority and migrant workers and their employers. Kilcranny House has also developed close working links with the Coleraine Multi-cultural Forum.
