This week's #GizmoOfTheWeek is our 3D Eclipse #ELGizmo, which allows students to observe the motions of the Earth, Moon and Sun in three dimensions to investigate the causes and frequency of eclipses! https://bit.ly/3Vvs01L

Halley's Comet, officially designated 1P/Halley, is the most well-known short-period comet, visible from Earth approximately every 75-76 years. Named after the English astronomer Edmond Halley, who first calculated its orbit and predicted its return in 1758, the comet has been observed since at least 240 BC. The nucleus of Halley's Comet is about 15 kilometers (9 miles) long, and it develops a bright coma and a long tail when it approaches the Sun. These features result from the Sun's heat causing the comet's ices to vaporize and release gas and dust. Halley's Comet last appeared in 1986 and will next return in 2061, providing a rare and significant astronomical event for observers on Earth.By: Achin Dulara#sopa #sopaweeklypost #sopafacts

So I've been reading alot about Higgs bosons lately and wanted to share some fascinating insights. Higgs bosons are invisible subatomic particles that give mass to matter through the Higgs field, which permeates the universe. Different particles interact with this field to varying degrees, with quarks interacting more strongly than electrons, hence having more mass. Scientists observed the Higgs boson's mass to be around 126 GeV, slightly less than the predicted 127 GeV required for a stable universe. This discrepancy suggests potential instability, implying that the universe is rather unstable and is destined to fall apart. This aligns quite well with a Quranic verse here, which uses words like 'dispersed' moths and 'fluffed up' (loosened) wool which sounds much like mass loss to me. The end of the universe, therefore, will not be due to volcanic activity or asteroids hitting earth. It will end due to mass loss! #higgsbosons #Godparticle #particlephysics #Quran

https://lnkd.in/g6VET2nM # Mankind has shown its greed and violent nature. The movie Independence Day featuring aliens plundering the universe for resources, threatening mankind is actually about us, the image of ourselves. As mankind gets so advanced and developed, it will conquer the universe, exploit the resources, destroy the environment and create havoc all over the galaxy. We are probably the most violent and destructive specie. Our fears and perception of aliens destroying us are actually the reflections of us. Mankind is scared of its actions, its very existence. We can't trust ourselves. No will aliens will destroy. It's us destroying ourselves.Sometime soon, we will be at war with each other for trying to assert sovereignty over uninhabited planets and moons of the solar system. And again, we will conquer "inhabitants" of the planets and enforce our religions, beliefs and politics, granting the "inhabitants" are less advanced and gullible like the locals the European colonialists conquering and enslaving peoples of other countries and continents.Mankind is gradually destroying its planet. The mining, the pumping of oil, water and other resources from the ground, pollution, resources that are supposed to be underground and raised up and cause the contamination of our water resources and oceans. All these can alter the physical composition of the planet that may eventually affect its axis and cause the disappearance of the magnetic field. Earth will be like Mars

The Moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth. Its near side is marked by large dark plains (volcanic ‘maria’) that fill the spaces between the bright ancient crustal highlands and the prominent impact craters. A full Moon occurs when the Moon appears as a complete circle in the sky. We see it as a full orb because the whole of the side of the Moon facing the Earth is lit up by the Sun's rays. The Moon produces no visible light of its own, so we can only see the parts of the Moon that are lit up by other objects.A small amount of light comes from distant stars and the reflection of light from the Earth (known as 'Earthshine'). However, the main source of light for the Moon is the Sun.#moon #sun #earth #msphysics #physics #sky #dolphinpginstitutedehradun #dolphinpginstitute #astronomy

Astronomers reveal Earth's "sad" fate when the sun dies. After the sun finally dies, billions of years in the future, Earth too will meet a grisly end. There are several ways that our home planet may be destroyed after the sun dies, possibly being swallowed up by the sun as it expands outwards, or simply being torn apart by gravity. The sun is expected to fade into a white dwarf after its death, so studying white dwarfs out in space allows astronomers to get an idea of how planets and moons in the rest of the solar system fare... https://lnkd.in/eiTqT9Xf

Guys, I am so tired of this rambling championship about the next solar eclipse. It is only a natural astronomical occurrence and yes, it can be predicted in advance: it's not prophecy but basic, most simple astronomical calculations. No the Earth won't end, no the Sun won't burst, no the Moon won't fall, no demons won't roam the Earth and no, nobody's going to jump into the hyperspace of consciousness. PLEASE stop.https://lnkd.in/ehr8mgTt

I want to note this article from India about a US/Indian study of all available data, which indicates there is twice as much water at the poles than previously thought. As well, instead of the theory of condensation at poles from comet impacts, they contend that most of the water came from volcanos in the very early history of the Moon. Here's the article:https://lnkd.in/eDJ96pmQ

Q) Which planet has a big red spot?MarsJupiterNeptuneUranusA) JupiterA planet is a large, rounded astronomical body that is neither a remnant nor a star. The solar system has at least eight planets, with each having its own unique characteristics. Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun and the largest in the solar system. It was named after the Roman god Jupiter, who was the King of the gods. Jupiter is home to the biggest storm called the Great Red Spot. This is a long-lived enormous storm system and the most conspicuous feature of its visible cloud surface. This Great Red Spot was first observed in 1831 by Samuel Heinrich Schwabe, an amateur astronomer.#FYI #DYK #Planet #Jupiter #ToyeenB #TBW xoVISIT: https://lnkd.in/fh4-Rux
