A significant power outage has struck Mishawaka, leaving many residents without electricity.
Around 10 a.m., local police reported the incident, which has had a widespread effect on the city. Mishawaka Utilities indicated that the outage primarily impacts the downtown area and the southwestern sections. Specifically, the affected regions stretch south of the river, from Ironwood Drive to Merrifield Avenue, covering a considerable expanse of the city.
Fortunately, power has already been restored to customers located between Ironwood and Logan Street. However, crews from Mishawaka Utilities are actively engaged in efforts to restore service to those still affected by the outage.
In light of the situation, the Mishawaka Street Department will be installing stop signs at every intersection where traffic lights are currently non-operational. This means that drivers should treat any intersection with a malfunctioning traffic signal as a four-way stop, ensuring safety for everyone on the road.
